When Will Success Happen?

It’ll happen when I understand that to do anything other than what I’m here and gifted to do is a lie.

It’ll happen when I realize that being true to myself isn’t the same thing as being self-centered.

It’ll happen when I relax into who and what I am and learn how to let that person flow free.

It’ll happen when I find my own voice.

It’ll happen when I stop trying to turn artificial things into lasting realities.

It’ll happen when I learn how to channel the inner and outer noise into cohesive essence, whether by inclusion, release or deletion.

It’ll happen when I stop being so damn afraid.

And lastly…

It’ll happen when I realize that the success of what I do isn’t defined by how someone else feels about it. True success is defined by my own sense of accomplishment at a finished work, knowing that, in whatever form, my authentic self is represented there.

The bottom line: success will happen when I accept who I am and what I’m here to do and let go of my need for outside recognition, encouragement or validation. Those things are nice, but if we wait to have them before we take a chance at living an authentic life, we’ll never find fulfillment. Ever.

What’s your definition of success … and what revelations have you had getting there? We’re all links of the same chain, after all. If we all share what we know, we’ll be better equipped to let go of what holds us back and go forward to live our dreams.
